Supporting CAMHS services in Liverpool

Young Person Advisory service, supporting CAMHS services

YPAS is a Liverpool-based charity that supports children and young people with mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties. YPAS follows the Youth Information, Advice and Counselling Services model (YIACS) and is part of the Liverpool CAMHS partnership.

The challenge

There were growing expectations on YPAS to report its activities and outcomes at a national and local level, which they were struggling to meet. In 2018, after reviewing the software they had been using, they looked for a digital care record system that could meet their reporting requirements and could support therapists, social workers and youth workers in engaging with children, young people and families.

The solution

iaptus is flexible and customisable to service care pathways and provides tools to help services run efficiently, reduce wait times, manage referrals, report on the MHSDS and monitor outcomes. YPAS teams working across different locations can securely access records and add data at any time, from any location.

Therapists can set goals with young people, enter ROMs in sessions using questionnaires, and demonstrate results on-screen immediately for discussion with a child, young person and their family.

iaptus is the perfect system to:

  • Improve staff efficiency and reduce the number of young people missing appointments thanks to a text reminder function.
  • Enable data submission to the national Mental Health Services Dataset (MHSDS), attracting increased investment from both CCGs and NHS England.
  • Generate quality data in order to demonstrate the impact and effectiveness of its interventions and capture the different types of data required by funders.
  • Streamline referral processes supporting the clinical admin team to switch to paperless working, allocate therapists to young people digitally and send letters in bulk.
  • Allow therapists and clinical supervisors to view shared data, helping them to discuss referrals and review activity to inform their clinical supervision sessions.
